In Loving Memory of Begum Rokeya Sarder
Founder Member & Chief Executive of PROSHIPS
It is with profound sadness that the Protibandhi Shishu Shiekkha O Paricharja Samity (PROSHIPS) family mourns the passing of Begum Rokeya Sarder, Founder Member and Chief Executive of our organization, who passed away on 28 March 2026 while undergoing medical treatment in hospital.
Begum Rokeya Sarder was a dedicated social worker, community leader, and passionate advocate for the rights and well-being of children with disabilities. Before the establishment of PROSHIPS, she worked as a teacher for children with hearing impairments, gaining valuable experience and developing a deep commitment to supporting children with disabilities. With her vision, courage, and dedication, she helped establish PROSHIPS at the community level in Jamalpur District and played a leading role in building a school for children with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD).
Her commitment to community development and public service was further demonstrated through her election by the people as Vice Chairman of Dewanganj Upazila Parishad, Jamalpur, Bangladesh. She was widely respected as a community leader who worked for the rights, dignity, and inclusion of disadvantaged people. Her contributions to PROSHIPS and the wider community will remain an enduring part of our organization’s history and mission. Her dedication and humanitarian values will continue to inspire us in our work for children, women, and persons with disabilities.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family, relatives, colleagues, and all those who were touched by her life and service. May Almighty Allah grant her eternal peace and give her family and loved ones strength and patience during this difficult time.
